How to Make Your Websites Not Ugly

Published February 13, 2017

Design can be a tricky part of web development for many people, especially if they don't have a creative background. What font size should I use? How wide should my columns be? Should I add more pictures to this page?

Luckily, there are numerous small, simple and practical ways to vastly improve the look and usability of a website, no matter how creative you are (or aren’t). Just ask Hilary, one of our developers, who recently gave her talk on this topic for a joint event with Madison Women in Tech and Codecinella. It's called "How to Make Your Website Not Ugly: 10 Basic UX Tenets for Non-Designers."

In this talk, Hilary uses research to explore ten essential UX and design basics, showing how the impact as a whole for both clients and users is greater than the sum of its parts. Learn how to make your websites more attractive, easier to use and better designed without feeling like you’re wasting your time or effort.
