New Crew Member: Grant Bitzer

Meet our newest junior developer, Grant!

Grant is joining us after finishing Thinkful coding bootcamp, a full stack development program, earlier this year. We've had him pitch in to several different projects already, but he hit the ground running and is absolutely crushing it!

Read on to learn more about his experience with the Thinkful bootcamp, what he's been doing during his first few weeks, and his favorite film director.

Welcome to the team! Why did you decide to join Ten Forward?

"Every interaction with the members of the Ten Forward team has been fantastic. They all have drive and determination but want the other members of the team to succeed as well.  The work environment is extremely inclusive and collaborative.  I can’t wait to contribute and learn with this team!"

What are you looking forward to learning or doing in your new role?

"Ruby on Rails!  It has been a very hands-on experience so far while learning new concepts at Ten Forward.  I was writing and submitting code within the first week!"

You just finished Thinkful’s coding bootcamp. What skill are you looking forward to using at Ten Forward?

"I was trained to be a full stack developer and built applications using React.js and Node.js.  It gave me a more complete understanding of the process of building web applications. It was a fun challenge to pick up new technologies and have to use them on the fly.  It seems that the ability to be adaptable will be useful at Ten Forward as it is the nature of consulting."

If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, which animal would it be and why?

"My ridiculous answer would be a raccoon. When I was a kid, I fostered a baby raccoon for two weeks and it was a great experience. I would definitely watch over a baby raccoon again if anyone is looking for someone to do that! A more realistic pet would be a Newfoundland dog. I prefer big dopey dogs."

"If I could only watch one director’s movies for the rest of my life, it would be John Carpenter’s.  Carpenter’s movies are usually a blast even when they miss their mark."
