New Crew Member: Ellie Tapley
Meet our new Associate Consultant, Ellie!
Ellie is joining us from Epic, where she worked in Technical Services.
In her first few weeks at Ten Forward Ellie has dived right in shadowing partners, writing documentation, and helping to care for our office jungle. Her exceptional writing skills have been put to use and we are so excited to see what else she will create.
Read on to learn more about why she joined Ten Forward, the one fruit she would eat for the rest of her life, and to see a cute cat pic!
Welcome to the team! Why did you decide to join Ten Forward?
"Thanks for the welcome! Learning about this role was very exciting to me, because practically everything on the job description was a close match to either skills I’d used in previous roles or ones I was interested in developing. Then every meeting and interview with various team members confirmed my impression that this is a fun group with an intention of creating a solid working environment. I’m excited to contribute, and look forward to where this goes!"
What are you looking forward to learning or doing in your new role?
"Learning a little bit about ten thousand different things! I love picking up new knowledge & learning how best to communicate it on to others, so I’m excited to work on technical writing and documentation, as well as building relationships with coworkers and clients alike!"
How long have you lived in Madison? What is your favorite thing to do here?
"I’ve lived here since May of 2021, and I’m loving it so far – I’m still enjoying exploring new places, but maybe my favorite so far is the Arboretum – I went for a walk in December on a bright, snowy day, and felt like I’d walked into a fairy tale, or a jigsaw puzzle."
Would you mind sharing a picture of your super cute cat?
"This is Twilight, our clingy senior cat! She loves screaming at three AM because she wants cuddles and refuses to walk to bed to get them, staring disdainfully at toys, and chin scratches. She can be found on her heated pillow, in the guest bedroom’s closet, or hiding under the bed when company is over."
What does the perfect day off look like for you?
"Some sort of kitschy adventure in the morning with friends (example: my last birthday outing to an apple orchard!), followed by brunch and then back home for time to chill, curled up with a book or sinking my teeth into a really excellent new video game! "
You are a vegetarian! Where is your favorite place to eat in Madison?
"Basset Street Brunch Club for a nice meal out, Bambu for weird boba drinks, and Curry in the Box for comfort food ordered in. "
Fill in the blanks: "If I could only __ one __ for the rest of my life, it would be __."
"If I could only eat one fruit for the rest of my life, it would be grapes."
"I outsourced filling in the blanks to my friend and this was the most painful and most intriguing of the options. I hate that this option gives up raspberries, apples, tangerines, and really all other options… but between raisins and fresh grapes and grape juice, I think I’m happy with this choice."
Favorite board game or video game, TV show or movie, band or musician, emoji.
Video games, in no particular order: "Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, Skyrim, the Kingdom Hearts series, Mass Effect, Hollow Knight, Animal Crossing. I love a compelling world or story, satisfying mechanics or movement, or a fun chill collection time."
TV show or movie: "It’s not my favorite of all time but I watched KATLA on Netflix recently and I think more people should be talking about it."
Band: "CHVRCHES. I love a good upbeat song with obscure, slightly depressing lyrics."
Star Trek or Star Wars?
"Star Wars — I’ve nothing against Star Trek, but I’ve only really watched the controversial reboot movies. Star Wars I loved in my youth, have watched several times over, and have many many opinions about Jedi, droid rights, and which parts of the massive extended universe are really canon."
